Council voted to keep the Rural Urban Boundary where it is!!

It was great to see that the councillors placed more value on protecting the Okura environment than on development. We can now continue to enjoy the tranquility of the Okura Marine Reserve and it’s magical surrounds.

Thank you everyone for all your support especially Fiona McLaughlin for leading us and Chris Bettany, for their endless hours and dedication to this worthy cause. It has paid off!

100 people from greater Auckland turned up to the meeting in support of keeping our precious last bit of coastal environment on the east coast of Auckland from development.

The vote was 16 to 2 opposed to moving the urban boundary to the southern side of Okura.

Opposed: Anae, Brewer, Brown, Casey, Clow, Cooper, Darby, Fletcher, Hulse, Lee, Penrose, Stewart, J Walker, W Walker, Waston, Wood

For: Webster, Cashmore

Absent: Filipaina, Krum, Quax
