Ahead of our AGM (Sunday, 21 July), we are pleased to share with you our AGM report for 2024.
We hope you enjoy reading about our activities from the past year, including:
– our community planting and weeding events
– predator control initiatives (incorporating our traplines, and backyard trapping in Stillwater and Okura)
– property pest plans
– how our native birds fared over the breeding season
– plus you may spot a few familiar faces from our community!
As always, it’s always nice to reflect on our achievements, which of course could not be possible without the support of our community and funding partners.
This past year has also had its share of challenges. Consistent with the current climate, nature is also feeling the impact of tightening budgets – and the continuity and growth of our programme of work is a key focus for FOOB over the coming year.
We are also focused on working closely with our local community to grow our volunteer base, and keen to grow our impact through collaboration with local businesses.
It’s a great time to get behind nature – and we’d love to hear from you if you are keen to get involved.
Sunday 21 July: line-up of events
Ahead of our AGM, we have a great line up of events – all taking place at the Okura Hall, with free admission. We hope you can make it along.
12.30-3pm: Focus on conservation – join us to learn about local conservation and how you can get involved from the comfort of your own backyard. This is a great opportunity to get your family involved – incorporating games, prizes and lots of great information on protecting nature. Drop in at anytime between 12.30 and 3pm. Find out more here.
3pm: Join us to hear from guest speaker Rowan Nicholson, “the ruru guru“. As wildlife photographer, conservationist, storyteller and gaming animator, Rowan’s story has something from everyone. And he has a very special connection with Okura! We’re thrilled to have Rowan as our guest speaker this year, and we hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to hear his story. Find out more here.
4pm (approximately): following Rowan’s talk, we invite you to join us for our AGM.
Once again, we’d like to acknowledge everyone who’s been involved with, and supported our programmes over the past 12 months. Big or small, every bit of contribution matters. We hope you’ve also enjoyed supporting our local environment, and we look forward to working with you over the coming year.
