I have happy news to share in this month’s report.
The dent Chris, Tadhg and I made in the Japanese Honeysuckle infestation in Deborah continuing into Okura Esplanade is more pronounced and ready for planting as can be seen from Fig1(a) and 1(b). There are other infestations in Okura Esplanade contiguous to Fig1(b) we will be work on in the future.

Also, the climbing dock, moth plant and cathedral bells has been cleared from near the start of Deborah Reserve. But this would have to be followed up because their roots are embedded deep in the fence of the neighbouring property. Fig2 (a) and (b) are the aftermath of our work.

Chris and I we have also worked on the English Ivy infestation all the way to the creek. It shows signs of dying. Since all of the above are initial control in the region it needs regular follow-ups in the coming months to successfully eradicate these pesky vines in this reserve. Also, infill planting in these sites after clearance of vines would provide canopy and prevent other weeds like Chinese Privet or Gorse popping up.
